The Starter Mountaineer Week at Susten
June to September
Learn the French crampon technique, crevasse rescue techniques, rock climbing techniques, as well as how to build anchors in snow/ice/rock in the Steingletscher area. Stay in a hotel for 2 nights in the beautiful Sustepass area.
After an introduction to rock and ice, we will apply the learned skills on a nice, moderate climb on the Gweachtenhorn, Sustenhorn and Vorderer Tierberg. We stay at a cozy mountain hut for the climbs. You will not forget this adventure
We can guide up to 4 people on this trip
Day 1
Meet at Meiringen railway station, bus trip to Steingletscher. Instruction to knots, belaying, anchor building , rappelling, rock climbing techniques, etc. We stay at the Sustenpass Hotel Steingletscher.
Day 2
Multi pitch rock climbing in the Sonnenfels area with a multi pitch rappel. Another stay at the Sustenpass Hotel Steingletscher.
Day 3
Glacier travel techniques, snow and ice anchors, self arrest, French crampon technique, ice axe use, and crevasse rescue. Glacier approach to the Tierbaergli Hut, 2-3 hrs. Tour preparation and map reading lesson for the next day.
Day 4
Early morning start to the Gwaechtenhorn 3420 m. or Sustenhorn 3503 m. A great peak ascent where you can learn how to apply your learned skills as well as climb a peak. Time: apprx. 4- hrs.
Day 5
Early morning start to the Vorderer Tierbaerglistock 3091 m. and descent to Triftgletscher- Innertkirchen Hiking climbing time is 5-6 hrs.
